I grew up a very non-political (almost to the point where they didn't give a crap who was in any level of goverment) parent. Any time I ever asked any question about politics that the answer I got

I really didn't believe it until I got a bit older and started researching and even just watching videos of them all interacting on the house/senate floor that I believed it.

Just a few months ago there was a Kamala Harris and Lyndsey Gram fist-bumping and smiling at each other on the Senate floor
