I haven't done it exactly, but I could only imagine the feeling I'll get once I finally beat my uncle at a game of basketball.
I never met my biological father, so my uncle became my father figure growing up. He taught me basketball when I was 7 (he was 38 at the time). The sport instantly became one of the most important things in our dynamic.
Unfortunately, he had to move to Canada (we're from the Philippines) when I was 13, and we haven't seen each other since he left.
I'm turning 18 in January, and once in a while, whenever we talk on the phone, I joke about how he's afraid to return to the Philippines because he doesn't want to lose in a game of one-on-one. Although, it kind of saddens me that he's probably going to be at least 50 years old when I do get to win over him.
