What adopting a white baby taught one black family

The only negative comments that we got (as white parents) for adopting my 3 mixed (black/white) daughters and one black son were from black people. Even though she would not take both of the older girls, their foster mother had a problem with it.

Also, the black adoption worker illegally held up the adoption of our son until his behavior got so bad that we nearly had to give him up. His sisters had been adopted within 6 months, but they dragged his on for a couple years! He thought we did not want him! So, my husband called every day until he was adopted.

As a rule, I am not very observant. After she was an adult, my youngest daughter told me did that people stared at us when we went out as a family.

Two of my daughters were called Oreos and one went to a nearly all black school and was forced to speak incorrect English or else she got teased.
