What advice would you give a first-time manager?

A few more things in addition to what has already been mentioned.

Remember that everyone is a person. Managerial authority or not, be tough on the issues and kind on the people. When you work with colleagues, remember that our you do need things from them or your bosses, it's completely ok to hold them accountable if it affects your work performance.

Secondly, be the resource to build up others in a way that aligns with the company values. You lead by example, and have to hold yourself to the standards you set forth. This is a recipe for future growth for you. The anarchism will not fly over well unless you transform it to drive positive changes in the company.
