What is an adult problem that nobody prepared you for?

For some reason, I thought of this in my younger days a lot. Now that the time is here, I understand how finite our days are on this earth, how quickly time passes and hope that when the end does come that I can accept it gracefully.

I’ve been a nurse for 30 years and I’ve seen death many times. There was one person who went from working a full-time job to being totally incapacitated and dying—she knew death was coming and had a nervous breakdown over the whole situation. She waffled back-and-forth between accepting it and crying and wanting staff to hold her hand and not leave her side; it was just horrible. She did not have a support system and died alone. Very sad.
