What was an unpopular opinion around /r/NFL that turned out to be true?

No, actually they were throwing his name out straight away. 'Same ol' Seahawks/Seattle sports' mantra. Drafting him was screwing up the heir to Hasselbeck, Flynn.

I'm from Seattle and a huge Mariners, Sounders, and especially the Sonics. (Side note - The darkest corners of the universe make David Stern's soul look like the sun)

Wilson is in parallel to Carroll. That draft I was touting if Wilson was a few inches taller he is a top ten pick. And that Carroll wasn't a college coach with something to prove like Saben. He was a NFL coach coming back from hiatus. Wanted Cardinals to grab both. The cherry on top of this is preaching how amazing it is to my friends, family, and co-workers you got Lynch for a 4th rounder. No one gave a shit at the time in Seattle.

My other big call was Durant being the #1 choice over Oden and how happy/lucky we were to get him.

And being there when Griffey hit the walk-off against the Blue Jays in his return to the Mariners was one of the most magical experiences you could ever hope for. Game all but done and Griffey in the declining twilight of his career...The Kid made a brief return and saved the day. I was there in-person for that and Romo fumbling the snap. Never seen Seattle more alive, aside from the Super Bowl victory.

Then the media gave Griffey shit next season for sleeping the bench and forcing a de facto retirement on him. Seattle also let the Sonics go. We didn't. "We" being everyone who put in the time with me to attend the 'Save our Sonics' rallies.

While I'm from Seattle I was not born here. And long story short that led to me being a Cardinal fan. The best case there is for God to exist and him having a sense of humor is my love for Seattle and my two favorite teams are the Cardinals and Sonics.
