On Spotify artists sometimes have their own playlists of other people's songs and I found many interesting bands because of it, for example Acid Ghost finally introduced me to Death Grips in this way after 4chan's /mu/ tried and failed to force the meme band down my throat many many times.

Also Danger Mouse or David Dean Burkhart maintain and refresh a weekly rotation of songs that fit a theme for example. I find that amazing even though I don't listen to these playlists as much as I'd like.

It could just be PR companies making these playlists but they seem pretty authentic and it's an exciting new way of interacting with your audience - showing them your influences in an easy to play format.
