What are the biggest reasons for a fanfic writer to abandon a story?

I never said they owe us anything. I just think its nice to give a reason. If they don't want to, then thats fine. An explanation is not REQUIRED, and I understand that. Its just unfortunate more than anything when a writer stops writing without saying why. All the examples you gave were great! They were short and to the point, and didn't require any major details. When I was talking about simply saying "life happened" being BS, its far more of a personal gripe than an objectively bad thing. Like I said, neither I or most others are asking for a massive and extremely personal life story as to why they stopped, just something simple like one of the examples you gave above would be perfect. I know this is hard to believe, but im not trying to interrogate the writer. When I ask why they stopped, its not out of anger, its simply because I care about the amazing story and the writer, and that its nice to have closure. Im sorry if I came off as an entitled little shit in my post, and maybe I am but im just in denial or something, but thats just my opinion on the matter.
