Well, I'm glad you think autistic children are deserving of love and care. I think so, too. I'm not sure if you're saying that most low-functioning autistic children tax their parents or that most children with autism are low-functioning, but assuming the former interpretation--yeah, it's absolutely taxing, it can be horrifying, and it fucking sucks. There are kernels of truth in the poison spewed by Autism Speaks, which is part of why the organization is so damaging.

What I'm trying to say--and apparently have made a hash of saying--is that ruining their parents' relationships and finances is far from a universal experience for autistic people, and perhaps I misinterpreted your initial sentiment. If so, I'm sorry.
