What are the major differences between working with men and working with women?

Internalized misogyny ahoy: It mostly depends on the individual and the sort of work environment. Working with mostly women in the math department at a university will give you a different set of people than say, working in a high-end boutique or marketing company. I've always been more comfortable around men in many contexts. Probably because I've experienced much less rejection and criticism from them (though there are plenty of men who make me very uncomfortable). I was bullied relentlessly all through middle school, always by other girls, and the prejudice is hard to escape (especially whenever you encounter an example that confirms it, no matter how isolated). Women are more likely to make me feel scrutinized, especially very fastidiously/fashionably dressed and manicured ones. I feel like they expect me put in the same amount of time, money, and effort into being decorative. I don't dress down because I'm a filthy, unreliable slob with no self-respect, I dress down because I have other priorities and hate calling attention to myself. I think women are more often conditioned to enforce (often arbitrary) rules, fuss about details, and generally make sure everything is between the lines. I've met men like this too, but not as many. I dislike this sort of person as they are usually very scold-y, and care more about following rules than actual outcomes. Think Dolores Umbridge.
