What Are You Playing This Week? - November 15, 2018

Q.U.B.E 2 - got this for free from Twitch Prime and finished it on Sunday. It's a brilliant first-person puzzle game, fairly short (4-5 hours) but I enjoyed every second of it. The puzzles are fun and reasonable, never did I feel like they were too obscure or that I was stuck for too long, and it didn't overstay its welcome. Highly recommend it to anyone that likes the Portal games or The Talos Principle.

Dead Space - this game scared the hell out of me when I was younger and played it on Xbox360, I had to quit. To challenge myself to get over horror I'm playing it on PC now, near the end of chapter 7, and it doesn't bother me at all anymore. I feel like I'm just mowing through the enemies and they barely touch me. I think letting me play with mouse/keyboard is a mistake for this game because I can aim very precisely at limbs and turn my character on a dime with my mouse sensitivity. It's still pretty fun but it lost all tension. Instead of being worried whats around a corner or in the next room I just barrel through because I know I can just destroy everything it throws at me. Oddly enough I like looting items and managing the inventory in this game as much or more than the actual combat.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3DS - felt in the mood for a platformer and didn't know what else to play, so I'm replaying this game while I consider what else is out there. I think this game and Tropical Freeze might be my favorite platformers to have ever been made, or at least up there. Only complaint is that my hand cramps up after about 20 minutes because even the 3DS XL is too small.

Next in line from the backlog is either Yakuza Kiwami or Hollow Knight. If there are good sales during the holidays I plan to pick up God of War and/or Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
