My brother had a psychotic episode over Christmas when I was visiting home.. He voluntarily checked into a psych ward after my whole family mega worried about him- never seen him like that, he was paranoid as fuck and talking about voices in his head telling him to do things, the whole scary plot line, he referenced demons and was saying prayers repeatedly even though he is not religious really, we went to church as a family like forever ago. He was “ohm”ing super loud in the living room to try to calm down and stop whatever he was experiencing... my parents took him to the hospital late at night- I was jet lagged and tired but he was insistent I should go in an odd way... my parents assure him I’ll be fine- they go. My mom later tells me he was afraid something was going to break into our house and rape me. He came back home that night after being given anxiety medication- because there weren’t any psychiatry specialists in and told to come back another day.

I have never seen this kind of psychoticness from him my whole life. He has epilepsy and is a bit socially awkward/anxious in that sense... lower self esteem, just has had a hard time leaving the nest and it’s gotten to him now that he’s 28...

Anyways, any thoughts on that...

I have many theories. I haven’t entirely ruled out that some true crazy shit happened to him, as the likes of what you’re saying- but the only motivator I can think of for that is because he’s 230lbs of pure muscle. Gym is his life... Though my other theories seem to make more sense to me.
