What are some of the biggest circlejerk topics on reddit?

"I'm gonna have a Ferrari and a mansion instead of a kit! YEAH!" Like not having a kid somehow means they'll be rich. Sure, not having a kid means you get to keep some more of your money, but it doesn't magically increase your income.

It's definitely not a utopia with money piles, but I have pretty much everything I want, and am able to do a lot more than I otherwise would with kids.

Ferrari

No ferrari, but I do have an older sports car and a motorcycle. Probably wouldn't have both with a kid, and realistically wouldn't have either, opting for a more practical car.

mansion

Lol no. I was looking at buying a very small house all last year and concluded that this would be completely unrealistic without a drastically increased income or spouse. This might actually be more plausible to accomplish with a child. I'd probably care a bit more about having a permanent and stable home and community if I were raising someone.

boats

Definitely not possible, probably never going to happen. Kid or no kid is not making this happen.

traveling

Not as much travelling as I'd like, but that's more due to not being able to take extended time off from my job. I just got back from Scotland and Ireland, taking 2 weeks to hike the west highland way. I also have a 3-week trip scheduled for September/October to visit Prague, Munich and Amsterdam. Hopefully, if plans come together soon, I'll also have a trip to Osaka to scuba dive there in January as well. That doesn't include more local trips like this weekend going to San Diego, next weekend camping in Big Sur, 9/12-13 going scuba diving off Catalina, etc.

While not all of these would need to be cut out, I could realistically see some of the larger ones being curtailed in order to redirect funds to my child's well-being and general care.

I'm 27, have no debt, and only make ~45 a year while living in Los Angeles. That much doesn't go very far here, but it's more than enough to live the kind of life I want. I can't see how I would be able to continue this life with a child.

The circlejerk is real, but there's at least a modicum (in my case maybe 1.5 out of 4) of truth here.
