What are some common "facts" that people believe to be true even if the existing evidence states the contrary?

It’s very important to be self aware. It’s also important to call out abundantly bad ideas. I’m guessing you’re not American. The left right trap is tricky here because our right party simply doesn’t bring anything to the table that helps the country. To the point that even the right leaning intellectuals and thinkers have abandoned the party. It’s valid to consider ideas across the spectrum, but it’s tricky with two party systems. There becomes a false notion that just because ideas can come from across the political spectrum, both parties deserve equal voices. And that can not be the case. But to be fair, you covered that with the caveat of not always believing your politician or party is 100% right all the time.
