What are some good tips for an incoming freshmen?

Take easy courses your first semester with the goal of breezing through them because:

  1. You're still adjusting to life on your own. You will have a lot of things to do. It's good to have enough time to try a few of them.

  2. If you get a 4.0 the very first semester of college, your parents will be happy and will send you lots of lovely things.

  3. If you get a 4.0 the very first semester of college, you will be basically guaranteed to make the dean's list.

  4. Knowing you got a 4.0 at least one semester of college is a huge confidence boost.

Of course, after the first semester or quarter, ease into your required courses. If you plan on pursuing a master's or a doctorate, you will be glad for the GPA boost too.
