What are some good instructional videos or readings for beginners?

I found Ryan Hall to more helpful in the mid-blue range.

I don't know your body type but start looking up jiu-jitsu guys who match your body type, that's a good starting point. Don't worry about the super tricky stuff they do, but just get an understanding of how they use their body.

As far as grapplers who have some great universal things to learn from, Saulo Ribiero, Xande Ribiero, Marcello Garcia, Demian Mai, Draculino, Robson Moura, Jason Scully's x number of techniques from x position in x amount of minutes videos (pick a position, and learn 2 or 3 techniques he shows. Then go find resources on those 2 or 3 techniques, and do those for 3-6 months, DO NOT try and learn all x number of techniques, but seriously, he is a great resource for learning either a basic or advanced move-set, and then going out and finding more detailed information with it).

Look into the above instructors dvd instructionals above; Saulio's Jiu-Jitsu Revolution saved me years of training my passing game, so much of what he shows is amazing and would take you forever to learn on your own or even in a school. Instantly applicable and prone to giving results.

Find videos on positions you feel you are struggling in, and just start working from there, looking for concepts that will help you. Sometimes I spend all night just focusing on something as simple as flattening an opponent out; I'm ALWAYS looking for better/alternative ways to do something.

The important thing to remember is that you can go to class three times a week for a year, and barely cover all the basic positions in jiu-jitsu, a few sweeps, a few concepts, and a few submissions; that doesn't even get into counters, entire move-sets, or revisiting techniques (something which is VITAL); so you must also learn to be patient and just enjoy your BJJ journey.

And despite the hate in the thread, it's great you're going after more resources to learn from, youtube, videos, documentaries, and ebooks are great, just use the force wisely Luke. I'm a huge advocate of what you're looking to do, don't let the haters hate get you down bro.
