What are some health choices you can make now that you will appreciate when you are older?

Cancel and heart disease take many years (in most cases) to development. It is not cool to care about colon health as a young person, but that is generally when colon cancer starts.

The same goes for heart disease. It starts in childhood and our lifestyles are a major component of its progression.

For either conditions, it takes decades (potentially) for it to even become detectable or symptomatic.

So the time to eat properly for long term heart health and colon health is now.

In general:

  • Avoid overeating. Eating too much of anything is bad. If you are overweight, you are overeating.
  • Eat whole foods and drink water.
  • Avoid added sugars and added saturated fats. You don't need it and it could only hurt you.
  • Eat fibre.
  • Don't do harmful or foolish things because you were raised that way. Yes, if your parents are overweight and have blood sugar issues, you may be raised to be that way too...but it doesn't have to be that way most of the time.
