What are some of the most dangerous things we all go near, but think as being safe?

just that it is particularly vile when a man hits a women, because there is nothing we can do about it.

Comments like this show a lack of introspection and empathy, and the fact some people are applauding what you've said is saddening. Assaulting people is vile, regardless of gender.

When a woman hits a man, there is often nothing he can do about it. Yes, sure, he could beat the bitch to within an inch of her life, and he'll end up in jail, likely lose everything he's ever had, and have his life and career destroyed. In some places, if he reports it as a crime, he'll be arrested for being abused. A lot of police won't take it seriously. A lot of people won't take it seriously, laughing at him for being abused, or being too weak to defend himself. He can't defend himself in a lot of cases because the very laws designed to protect people (read women) are used against him. And all those consequences above? Sometimes a man doesn't even have to do anything to be found guilty and have his life ruined.

Men who beat up women are undeniable scum, but at least the law is on the woman's side, and there are in theory resources available to help them. Women who beat up men, who hide behind and abuse the laws designed to protect people so they victim is defenceless, are even worse. As are the feminists who do their part to ensure men's shelters are shut down and denied funding.
