What are some of the most infuriating misconceptions of mental illness people you know believe?

The most common is that it's "all in your head" and exercising, eating right, thinking positively will cure it. These can help the symptoms but not cure the illness. However when a tragic mass shooting happens suddenly everyone starts discussing the mental health care issues and how people don't have easy access for treatment. This is true but what's also true is that when everyone associates a violent act with mental illness, people are less likely to want to seek treatment in fear of being stigmatized. I won't even discuss my bipolar disorder on Facebook or any public forum unless it's anonymous. I've learned to never tell coworkers, bosses, friends, or family members because they'll either try to tell me what I should do to treat it and that I don't need the fancy psychiatrist, therapist, meds etc or they'll distance themselves from me.
