What are some really creepy things our society consider perfectly normal?

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say something really unpopular: but living freedom and liberty and being rational and thinking they're absolutely correct despite being entrenched in huge biased ethnocentric tendencies.

What I mean by that is, I know tons of amazing, well meaning, positive Americans and while I am American, I grew up overseas and I notice a ton of Americans I know are lovely people yet have a huge tendency to lean toward finding something they find unfamiliar to be by default, uncomfortable or find ways to rationalize why they find it to be disagreeable.

An example of this is for example how many Americans will hear how European governments have certain social programs or social issues that infringe on their personal perception or American definition of what they find comfortable in terms of freedom, but because they impose their definition of freedom; they find reasons to explain why they find it disagreeable when in reality, it's a matter of subjective preference.

It's kind of like how some people are opposed to hijabs, or on the opposite against government that bann hijabs. But at the end of the day, they're separate countries with separate perspectives and having opinions on them is fine but it's also important to realize that your opinion is fine to have but it's almost more important to raise that people in different parts of the world are allowed to have differ lent priorities in the direction they lead their country.

Surprisingly man people are opposed to this kind of mentality because they claim they love freedom but they ultimately only want the freedom that they define. Ironically that is the opposite of freedom.
