Wheeew this hits close. We were both 19 at the time.

Her friends, especially male friends, were always joking/trying to mess with me from day one, but in a picking on me kind of way. After a fancy party ended one time I undid my tie, one of her friends came by and ripped it off and tried to egg me on into playing keep away. Laughed to my face at how I dressed (a little too preppy for 2007), and just openly talked trash about this girl being out of my league. There's a funny way to do that, but the way they did all of this was intended to be mean.

We dated for about 8 months, broke up for one and then resumed dating at month 10. We basically broke up because of another guy that she ended up sleeping with in a one night stand situation. Anyway, we talked about it at length...her friends all knew about it, but we ended up back together.

Fast forward to the month we got back together, we were at one of her friends beach house and they decide to play "never have I ever". One friend says, looking directly at me...then looking at his other friends to yuck it up..."never have I ever had a one night stand"...every girl there (who knows about my ex) goes "aww uhh" and looks at me. My ex makes an "ehh face" and slowly puts down a finger. After she put her finger down I just put my finger down like it was no big deal. I had previously told her I was with someone that month we broke up, but she had no idea that's what it was. She cried, I felt bad, but her friends at least shut the fuck up in that moment.

I made tons of mistakes in that relationship. Shit happens. Everything ended really nicely between us 3 years later. She'll always be the one that got away, but god damn her friends were walking scabby penises.
