I wouldn't get too much into it. Its Reddit, and sometimes posters pander to the available hiveminds they can trigger for upboats. Sometimes, not even on purpose.

If the person was concerned about your behavior and not thier own self interest in points, they wouldn't be putting you down in a public forumn. They would of just pm'd you their concern first, over trying to shame you on a public forum for internet points.

You could almost call their behaviour a very narcissistic reaction to your use of the term, no matter the context it was used in.

Anyways, take it easy. People will always exist that look to pick fights over nothing in our little world.
