What are some tips/facts you wish you knew in your first year of uni that would have made university life easier?
Dress for comfort over style. Long hours and prac classes will teach you this the hard way.
Cloud storage for your assignments - Google Docs and Office 365, and work directly from them. This way there is no way you can lose your work.
Group assignments - Use cloud stored document or folder and share the link to your classmates. Everyone can review and contribute to the collaborated work at any time, anywhere.
2nd hand textbooks - the latest editions have minor changes and earlier editions can be much cheaper.
Using a laptop on campus - get a Kensington lock. They cost $15 and this way you can leave your laptop at the library or your place of study for toilet breaks, without risk of it getting stolen.
At the beginning of semester you will be told of your assignments that need to be handed in. Start a document in your cloud storage or drive and name it [ASSIGNMENT NAME] - [DUE DATE] - having an existing document makes it easier to start on your assignments early and helps you remember when they are due.
Need special consideration? Most doctors will give you a doctor's certificate for your problems simply by asking for them. ALL Doctor's certificates are checked for their authenticity.
Use adhesive page tags and label the sections in your readers - memory is associative and knowing the sections of the book simply by looking at the tags can help you remember the content much quicker.
