What are some unwritten rules in dining that all people should follow? A Restaurant etiquette Bible so to speak.

Server of 10 years here! From country club server and bartender, to redneck bars, fine dining and burger joints, I have seen it all. This is my passion, my favorite thing in the world to do. Management is where my heart lies. I try to servers and guests should know orioer etiquette. Poor ettiqute from customers ruins my job for me sometimes.

If I am speaking with other guests at the same table or a completely separate table, wait your turn to speak. Please do not interrupt my menu presentation to give them your opinion about a special that was put on the menu that day, that you have never had.

-Do not use your own concoction of words when ordering a cocktail. Use: rocks, neat, up, dry, ect.

-.If deserts include ice cream- don't order it. It is a mess for us to have to prepare (cooks normally don't do it at restaurants, servers do) It is a process. Majority of the ice cream has been sitting in the ice box for 3-4 months barely covered.

-If I'm getting another round, ask for your next at that time. Poor timing with things like that easily outs servers in the weeds. It directs all their attention to one table while others in their sections are needing service. No server wants to come back with one beverage, then be asked to get another the second the server comes back. It is a vicious cycle.

-I know when we are busy. You stopping me with a stack full of plates go remind me of how bust it is doesn't make you helpful. 30seconds in restaurant time is like 1-1/2 minutes to you.

-Anything that previously had a face is gluten free.

-Please do not come to dine 10-15 minutes before close. I would rather wait an 30 minutes after close for a table that is cashed and camping out....rather than wait 1 hour after close so you can stuff your face and give me a 10% tip.

-I don't care how big of a group you are, stay out of the aisle ways. And your children in their seats.

-When your server asks how you are doing, respond. I honestly do care. If you're having a horrible day, and this meal is one thing you have been looking forward to, I want to make it an amazing experience.

There is so much more but I am too tired.

BE NICE TO YOUR SERVERS, THEY EIKK BE NICE TO YOU.

Cheers!
