What are some of your unique survival tactics that you learned during your life time as a women?

From working night shifts at bars and nightclubs for 5+ years (for some time in a high crime area):

  • comfortable shoes that you can run/climb/fight in. Boots or trainers are best.

  • acknowledge the randoms who try to talk to you on the street but do not stop walking. Call them “bro” or “mate” or similar to put yourself on the same level as them. Nodding at them is usually enough. “Gotta go I’m running late to work mate see ya” also works for most situations.

This has two advantages - some of them might get ticked off if you ignore and don’t acknowledge them, so you avoid that confrontation. And more importantly the neutral dudebros that I nodded to have at times helped me against people who actually wanted to hurt me. It’s good to get some drunk idiot on your side rather than mad at you.

  • the areas with a high density of drunk guys on the street are safer than quiet side streets. Well lit bigger streets where you get catcalled are still better cause they are not going to DO anything in public, and chances are some decent people are around too.

  • have local police station / relevant phone numbers saved in your phone.

  • seriously keep an eye on your drink

Lots of good answers here already so I tried to add some that I haven’t seen yet.
