Lived in a joint a buddy of mine named Charlie let my girlfriend and I move into, since one of his roommates Dave was leaving. We got the basement room, which kind of sucked, but up front I told him we're just paying for the room, not by person. He and his other roommate Stephanie were okay with it, since they each had SOs that were around a lot too.
So I thought it would all be fine. I assumed the cable bill and the internet bill and I think trash. We split them three ways, but some were in each of our names. Others were split up. Three bedrooms, rent split three ways. All good.
Then all of the sudden Stephanie, who has the gas bill, starts saying how high the gas bill is getting. She posts it on the fridge. One month it's $200. Then it's $450. Next month it's $700. And I'm going, "What the fuck? No way." So I poke around, because she was just putting the last page of the bill up on the fridge. Turns out, she'd been taking the money we gave her, and not paying the bill. Then the balance forward came out on the "amount due" back page that she'd show us. So she just hadn't paid the gas in three months and it was going to get shut off.
That's when things got fucked. She demanded that I pay her 1/3 of the bill (even though I had already paid 1/3 of it twice...). Then she demanded that we split rent and bills 4 ways because my girlfriend lived there full time and the other two were only there 4 or 5 days a week or something. I said no to that.
Then I cancelled the cable and internet, because she refused to pay her share of the cable bill until I gave into her demands. I kept paying the trash because fuck it. Soon after, I was away and she started selling my shit and stealing it. Guitars. Amps. Drum sets. Stereo. Even my fucking monopoly game. She just robbed me blind. Then she fucked up the house. Broke mirrors and cabinets. Told the landlord I did it. She screwed off, and I got stuck with the security deposit.
Then, worst of all, she showed up at my work demanding money for the gas bill, making a huge scene, screaming, and crying after all this. I had to call security and get embarrassed in front of my boss and my boss' boss.
That chick sucked.
