What are things elitist guitarists say? [DISCUSSION]

Personally, I feel like there could be something to be said about different caps, but not so much in the actual tone of the note as it would be in the "quickness" of its response. For example, maple capped guitars to me sound like they have a much quicker and more immediate resonance of the note(s), whereas a mahogany capped guitar isn't quite as quick and has more of "bloom" to it (I know, I know, tone words are dumb, but I don't know how else to describe it). However, I just prefer whichever cap looks better to me and don't even worry about that stuff when buying guitars (for example, I don't like most flammed, quilted, or spalted maple caps because I think they're ugly and I like the more simple, natural patterned ones like mahogany, walnut, or cedar). I also believe in the effects of tonewoods though because I had a teacher that was a trained luthier and built his own guitars, and taught me about a lot of that stuff, so my reasoning is biased and I understand why there are people who don't believe in their effects. I definitely agree about the fretboard inlays though, that's really a dumb line of reasoning.
