What are your experiences with Southern hospitality? Does a similar culture exist in the West?

I lived in NC for 4 years so I’m not sure if that really counts although I have been to surrounding states and imo southern hospitality is generally overrated. Imo most Americans generally have more in common than not & are pretty nice. I think it’s more about which parts of the US are known for not really being nice which NYC obviously has the stereotype for being rude (although I didn’t have problems when I went although I stuck to tourist Manhattan and didn’t venture out to the Bronx or anything). But I have also found people in the PNW (Seattle and Portland, idk about smaller towns) to be pretty condescending in the LA kind of way.
