What are your MUST sleep condtions you couldn't sleep without?

Going to sleep right now, and I’ve a good setup.

I’ve a large covered balcony off my bedroom. On that is a king sized bed. There’s an electric mattress pad and some nice heavy comforters to keep me warm. I’m about 40 feet up, backed to a huge wetland.

The rain comes down all night (I’m a few miles outside Seattle) and hits the forest canopy (even in winter) making a beautiful sound. The wind russels through the trees, and the frogs - good lord the frogs - in the wetlands behind me are just waking up for spring.

Some nights the coyotes get going and occasionally a bobcat or mountain lion will make some noise. One night a large owl flew up and perched on the railing about 48 inches from me and gave me a bit of a surprise. We’ve got black bears, but they keep to themselves.

On nights when it rains (or snows), like tonight, this is where I sleep. It’s amazing. My kids invade the bed, snuggle up, and spend the night kicking me in the back. My wife laughs at me, shakes her head, and goes back inside.

Mattress is a King Beautyrest Black with a water-proof zipped cover on it. Bed frame is a hardwood (teak?) platform style. Usually linen sheets, although the kids prefer flannel.

I track all my sleep (using AutoSleep, and Dreem3) and the rest I get out here is far better than sleeping inside on a normal bed.
