What are your opinions on the use of half belts in judo?

That's why I say at least the organizations should promote to Sandan for Competition success. Low Dan (1 to 3) were randori/shiai belts and should be in my opinion. If you go to 4th Dan and especially to 5th Dan you should have a better, well rounded understanding of Judo.

IF international competition Judoka get their low Dans through medals, it's much easier for them to catch up the Kata and Teaching Knowledge what's needed for 4th and 5th Dan and they don't have to go for Nidan and Sandan and Yondan, which could take them about 5 to 10 years.

If you finish your Competition Career at about 30 and! you can go for Yondan (teacher Dan) within two years, this would be a more smooth transition to teaching and coaching and maybe less knowledge from competing gets lost for the next generation.
