What are your opinions on biotin for MtF hair growth?

Hello! Opinions vs Study, I chose study. 2year taking daily biotin supplements.

Think of your hair growth as potential, rather than a sure thing or not a thing. Taking Biotin increases that potential as your hair follicle now has the material to grow! If that was the only limiting factor on your hair growth you will see significant improvements.

However, if you ingest enough protein from other rich sources then you're throwing more materials onto a pile of materials your body can't use. And the result is expensive urine.

That's all biotin is, and it won't regrow hair magically. Now HRT does cause changes in both ftm and mtf hair growth, so including it is likely beneficial. Throw in Vitamin D in there is well, as it interestingly acts in a similar way to hormones. Minoxidil is a medicine that does regrow hair that otherwise wouldn't grow. It does this by sending an alternative growth signal to the follicle that entices it to activate. The treatment over a period of 1year has been proven to be permanent, which is what I found. But stopping before the hairs are terminal causes them to eventually shed. Finnasteride can be used in combination with all of the above to regrow hair that was lost up to 5years prior. This however takes years but works.

To address a comment here. Biotin does not skew your blood results, it's a protein. Minoxidil however can raise your blood pressure, which it did for me and once the hair became terminal I stopped using it. The results are now permanent but ymmv
