What are your thoughts on the mainline Pokemon games on Switch?

Pokemon Let's Go: Didn't play it. Just in terms of optics, it struck me as a way to move the newfound Pokemon Go players in to the mainline games. Not for me and don't really have an opinion here.

Pokemon Sw/Sh: Mediocre entry in to the home console space. Brought out a lot of deep-seated and fundamental issues of the mainline games. I've seen a lot of people mention how Pokemon games were never about graphics but... have you played Pokemon games? They looked phenomenal on the Gameboy, GBA, DS & 3DS. That same rigor was clearly a huge undertaking and they clearly missed the mark. Not only does it stand as a mediocre mainline Pokemon game, but compared to modern JRPG's, it's extremely poor. I will say that I liked the new Pokemon a lot so... I guess there's that.

Pokemon Legends Arceus: While not perfect, a HUGE step up. Many of those fundamental issues I mentioned were slightly addressed, gameplay was modified for the better without straying too far from what feels like a Pokemon game. The removal of IV's, easy access of swapping learned attacks, ability to engage wild Pokemon and small side missions were a much needed breath of fresh air. Biggest disappointment was that the battling system leaned heavily in to offensive strategies and I can't say I'm a fan of the turn-based method introduced. Graphics could still use improvements, but they were serviceable and the game ran well enough (much better than the Wild Areas in Sw/Sh).

Other Pokemon games: Don't know, haven't played them.
