What are your tips for finding employment?

My recommendation to you my good sir .. as someone who has never been more than 2 weeks without a job. Don't rely on Job posting boards solely for work ... half of my employment has come from me making some phone calls to friends at other companies asking if they have any available positions , sending cold emails to [email protected] -- basically a cover letter requesting an interview, and simply walking the streets of NYC .. you'd be surprised how many people still only post "HIRING" signs out of their store front. Take what comes to you .. and work from there until you find yourself in an environment that you feel is great. My recommendation to everyone who has an open personality ... try to get into sales. There are SOOOOOOOoo many companies always looking for some good B2B sales people .. from Spectrum, to GE, to Lays & Fritos, Pepsi (starts at 60K w/ company car and bonuses --and is only about 30 min drive out of the city ... i even think you can take metronorth to it ... seriously a switched jobs last month and received at least 2 calls asking a day asking me to interview for a sales positions. From Yelp to Toshiba to Some Super fancy travel company . I'm not saying results are typical .. but sell yourself. Get in front of people and tell them why you are the PERFECT person for the position. That it will cost them more money NOT to hire you, because of all the lost deals they will experience. Be strong and don't give into negativity. The more negative you are in other aspects of your life the more it will spill over into others facets as well. Good luck my friend and polish that resume (1 page - 2 pages MAX .. if you must have a second page...). Write a short, concise cover letter specific to that company and ask for an interview. You will get something if you change the way you're thinking about it .. i'm 100% positive about this. Good luck.
