What has been your three favorite mmorpgs that you've played? And why did you stop playing them?

In order:

ROSE Online - This is the first graphical mmorpg I ever played. It was a buggy, exploitable mess of a game which I absolutely adored. Much like the godwars MUDs I grew up on it was basically endlessly grindable/expandable and that appealed to me a great deal. I stopped playing when they literally completely changed the game (UI/missions/class trees/everything) for the second time, completely wiping the server for the 4th and I just wasn't having it any more.

LOTRO - This was my introduction to raiding and pvp. Like ROSE, it was supremely exploitable (at least at the time, prior to Moria) so I had two of the highest PVP ranks on the server as a "lolGuardian" freep side and even more lol Warleader creep side. I left when my entire guild/clan migrated to Age of Conan at its early access.

Guild Wars I: The pinnacle of mmorpgs (for me. I fully realize some don't even acknowledge it as a mmo) Its PVP was out of this world, it's PVE content was extremely deep, and hunting for skills was like an even better implementation of the NM system from FFXI (which was my favorite part of FFXI).

Honorable mentions to FFXI which i actually logged many more hours than ROSE on, but was less influential overall and "Godwars" which would be the only thing on this list if it qualified... but as it's not "one game" and it's not in any way massive doesn't. (>10,000 hours played and an additional 15,000 hours coding on the backend for it. It's what chose my major in college and thus the last 20 years after)
