It was my first time playing white elephant.

It was my little cousin (who was maybe 5 at the time), myself (I was 11), and three older teenagers (14), (15), and (17) respectively.

Our game of white elephant was a little special. Basically the #1 person could steal anyone’s gift, and anyone could steal #1’s, but only #1. Also, you had to select a random wrapped gift, you couldn’t open it until after everyone picked their gift.

I don’t remember what number I was, but I guess I was taking too long because the three teenagers were yelling at me, pressuring me to just pick something, and staring over and over that was wasting time. I guess out of panic I grabbed tissue paper that was in front of me.

After everyone went, I opened the tissue paper and it ended up being 40 dollars. Best part was that the teenagers couldn’t do anything to steal my money because the #1 person was my 5-old-cousin, who was completely content with his dollar store cat plush.
