After I did my crosscutting course with the emergency service, I was asked to spend the day with my unit commander; we went to another unit commander's house 3 hours away in the middle of no where to help him chop up some firewood (he was recovering from a surgery gone wrong and had already popped a few stitches trying to cut his own firewood). Four of us went up there and despite the fact that I was not the only chainsaw operator, they made me do all the work. 5 hours of crosscutting. I even got to do some felling so we could get the vehicle + trailer through the thicket.

By the time I was back at training the following week, everybody was calling me Lumberjane.
