What do campaign players think about the nerf to damage spells?

They didn't go far enough.

Warhammer has always had faster battles than normal total war games (and it's always been a problem) but WH3 made the problem way worse.

Everything does more damage faster now, which has greatly favored magic. In WH2 the meta was ranged units and magic was strong, but without cheese it was fairly balanced.

In WH3, melee infantry is back to being somewhat useful, so props to them for that, but now the meta is magic and it's horrible. It's so bad that I genuinely want them to add a toggle to turn all of magic off, like how 3K has a toggle for single entity generals.

It's power is made far worse by the fact the AI has faster cooldowns and seemingly infinite magic reserves. If they have more than one caster on the field, they can bombard you with spells almost constantly, it's ridiculously broken.

For an example, I went up against a bloodied Azazel army with a full stack and Azazel won because he had 4 mages. He was able to cast 5 penumbral pendulums, 1 whip of Slaanesh, 3 fireballs, a bombardment spell and a bunch of buff spells in under 2 minutes (2 pendulums and the whip were all at the same time as soon as he reached my line).

This was not a one off, it's consistent with my experience across the board. Skaven are really bad for it too, because they have alot of magic lord/heroes and their magic was buffed.
