What can I do after being a MLT?

Lab IT: work on the lab's interfaces and network problem, you need certificates such as A+, Network+, and possibly a bachelor's in information technology depending on the hospital. Your MLT experience will help you out. This is probably the least amount of schooling if you can get lucky and find a place that will accept certificates only instead of a full bachelor's degree, but check your area hospitals and reference labs to research their requirements. If you just need certs, many community colleges offer online cert prep courses for a few hundred dollars per course.

Biomedical engineering: again, your MLT experience is a great leg-up in the competition for program applications and job applications.

Clinical Lab Scientist: you can get a bachelor's and either get an area-specific certification through ASCP, or you can go full Clinical Lab Scientist (look up requirements through ASCP)

Look towards Grad School: go for your bachelor's degree with a goal of doctor, PA, pharmacy, or other upper level degree. Your time as an MLT will count as great experience on many upper level medical school applications!

Veterinary school: they like to see some form of research, so although it's not animal-based, you could also potentially seek out a job in animal based lab testing if you want animal experience.
