What can your dragons do?

Mine aren't god-tier (with a few exceptions), but there's four elemental classifications of dragon who are like Smaug in wiseness, power, and combat skill, but also have an elemental command that's able to do many things as long as the element itself can be provided. This isn't a big deal in their immediate vicinity - they generate plentiful amounts of their element naturally - but it is important for guarding their lairs and nests, since dragons are inherently mistrustful of other creatures coming to loot their stuff. Earth dragons are great geologists and mineralogists, having a deep understanding of ores and stones and how to find veins of particular things - useful when they want to make dwarves dig up and smelt gold for them - and water dragons are the ideal hunters, being able to manipulate/control marine populations through underwater currents and their generally strong/plentiful magic. Fire dragons invented glass, make better use of smelting and cooking techniques, and storm dragons stepped up that game to make leyden jars, tesla coils, and electrified flooring (along with just zap-charging the coins) to safeguard their hoards from outside threats.

If dragons agreed to team up and share their talents, they'd easily become the most scientifically advanced civilization on the planet. However, they currently only work through intermediaries (who are usually dwarves cast into slave-like roles, the pay being "I don't eat you" and maybe a dismissive parting with an unworthy scrap of "treasure".) and rarely in direct contact with the few other dragons they're willing to help, most intra-dragon meetings happening in "neutral" grounds between their respective lairs. Right now though, they're just really smart arch-mages who live in anarchy and a naturally awesome, reptilian, flying, four-feet form. They don't use forged weapons cause there's not a whole lot a sword or spear might do in place of their claws or magic, but they often just use magic as crafting tools anyway and would understand a whole lot more science if they talked to other dragons about what they've discovered and learned for themselves.
