I think I've hit that threshold where I just don't expect life to change that much, especially with my partner and our dual income. We can practically afford all the things we need, the only things we still can't afford are luxuries that we don't need anyway (fancy house, fancy car like you said).

2 years ago I made about 120k in 7 weeks through some ridiculously successful speculative punts, then lost about 90k shortly after (easy come easy go). Had all these plans for the 'high life" and then it was unceremoniously taken away. Helped me reflect on what it was that I actually value tbh.

Also helped familiarise me with the concept of making shit loads of money, its no longer this wild out of reach thing, and I no longer feel any undue resentment to people who can make that kind of money consistently!
