What caused the 30% drops in BTC during the 2018 bull run, and do we expect the same thing to happen next time?

I wasn't around back then.

But i don't think we will see a 30% drop for now. It will take at least till 20k and we will revive quickly. Everything above is risky.

Back then it probably dropped because people that had been holding bitcoin for ages were now ready to make some big profit of the coins they bought anywhere from 1 to 1000 bucks. They didn't know where bitcoin was going, but knew that they would have had minimal 20x profit if they cashed out.

Now we have been around 10k for ages. So when we hit 20k people only have made about 2x times profit. Also with more institutions stepping in, it is more expected to reach way higher. So people that bought now are not going to risk dropping out at 20k with the risk of going to 100k and having to buy for higher price than they sold. However we will still see a dip when we hit ATH because of people that have been waiting 3 years now to sell their bitcoin without loss.
