What caused you to think "I'm never visiting again" after being in someone's home?

I briefly dated a girl who was a vet tech. She wouldn’t let me over to her place for the longest time, but I kept pushing because I wanted to see how she lived before things got too serious. I’m not the tidiest person in the world by any means but I do have my limits.

She lived in a very small house with waaaay too many animals, and the whole house reeked of animal. I’m talking like the marination of litter box, soiled carpet, wet and dry dog, and hot dog breath. It wasn’t particularly dirty aside from the hair, which is expected and doesn’t bother me...but that smell. Dear god. I almost gagged when I walked into the house, and I’m not a squeamish or weak stomached person. It stung my eyes and made me feel legit sick to my stomach. She had at least one geriatric cat and I’m pretty sure it was not using the litter box to pee anymore because that was the prevailing aroma.

I felt bad for her because I doubt she could even smell it anymore, but it was fairly obvious that she at least had some idea since she didn’t want me over there. Only reason I didn’t duck out immediately was because she clearly loved her pets and took well enough care of them, but in retrospect the number of animals she had (I’m sure at the expense of her own standard of living) was indicative of a larger issue that ended the relationship not too long after.
