One thing to take into account is your size and physical capabilities. I started out on a 650cc for the first year and now ride a liter bike. I researched and tried out so many different bikes before making the right choices for myself. But I did conclude that my tall big boned self is not getting on anything smaller than a 600cc. Ultimately just do your research and do what feels right for you. If your a skilled rider from the jump and can handle a liter bike, go for it. If you’re not that great, get a smaller displacements bike that you can practice with and not worry about damaging a $10-20k machine.
