What is a comment directed at you that you haven't been able to shake off?

"Let's be honest: it's not like you weigh 90 pounds."

Said to me while giving birth and I asked why I needed a c-section, and the room got dead quiet. She had just walked into my room, blurted out, "Time for a c-section!" and that was the first I'd heard anything was wrong. She wasn't a nice OB, and some of her later comments actually made me fear that she would pull something during the c-section. I know that probably sounds irrational, but when you're already in so much pain and you've been without sleep for so long...you start wondering.

Why I needed a c-section: uterine infection, posterior position, baby wouldn't descend, fetal distress. Based on the evidence, I think he was tangled in his cord, which may have caused the last two. I blamed myself for the cesarean for a long time because of the way she treated me. Posterior babies are more common among fat women, but I don't know how much more common. The other complications don't appear linked to weight. Researching that helped me get some peace from the situation.
