What common rhetoric do you most despise?

I despise their appeal to human misunderstanding as a response to every challenge against Judaism.

Exhibit A: Everything God does for us is inherently good for us and he only does it because he loves us and because we need it. Therefore, given this presupposition, no argument can be made to criticize any of his abhorrent and vile behavior. If he tortures someone to death, or if he condemns women to a life of abject servitude, or sanctions genocide, slavery, xenophobia, pedophilia, its all goodness. If he gives us absolutely ridiculous rules and rituals to follow and promises to torture us if we don't, he's only doing it because he cares and because we inherently deserve it. And the rules he gives us only seem meaningless to us. They really have hidden Kabbalastic influences that we can never understand.

After all, how could we possibly claim to know any better than the creator of the universe, the ingenious architect who designed everything.

We, with our puny imperfect, human minds, can never possibly understand his immaculate genius, his absolute, transcendent, although unapparent, altruism. Therefore, our only choice is to submit and accept our fate as his abject slaves, forever begging and worshiping at his feet. This is the only way humans can reach any kind of "real" and "spiritual" fulfillment, true and "eternal" happiness.

Next, I hate how they contrive more and more complexity to deal with problems of cosmic justice and inconsistencies in the Torah. Why do little children suffer and die? Because they are really reincarnations of people from earlier generations who committed serious crimes, you know, like loving a non-Jew or not keeping Shabbos. What do we have temptations to do "sins"? Because otherwise everything would be too easy? Why don't we understand the reasons for these insane rules? Because Because God wants us to show proof that we can devote ourselves blindly to him.

I also absolutely despise the obnoxious arrogance that some of these fundamentalists carry. I hate how they act as if they have have discovered the fundamental truth to everything, that's been hidden from everyone else, without actually discovering or knowing anything anything. I hate how they pretend to have all the answers, when they don't even know what the right questions are. I hate how they mock uncertainty of scientists, and present their own certainty as some kind of proof or virtue. I hate how they refuse to acknowledge their hypocrisy and simple mindedness.

Whew!! OK, rant over.
