What is the coolest thing about your mom?

She is the strongest, kindest, and most caring person I've ever met. A few stories about her life:

  • She lost 2 brothers in Vietnam.
  • She was the bedside nurse for Dick Cheney after one of his early heart attacks. She said he was kind of a dick.
  • She was friends with Steve Jobs in highschool. "He was just a nerdy, normal guy... you never know who's gonna be famous!"
  • She is a career nurse, been Head Nurse at every hosptial she's worked at for the past 20+ years, and does it because she genuinely loves caring for patients. She hates the modern culture of nursing, how people get into the profession because of the paycheck instead of the passion for helping people.
  • She watches Jeopardy every night, and insists we make a guess for Final Jeopardy in between the category reveal, and the clue reveal.
  • She is very patriotic, incredibly proud of the USA, and cries whenever she hears "I'm Proud To Be An American" by Lee Greenwood.
  • She was living in Wyoming with my dad for a few years when they went on a vacation to Hawaii. After a great day or two, they both turned to each other and said "What the HELL are we doing living in Wyoming?!" and moved to Maui within 3 months and had my older brother.
  • She is the queen of the hangover cure breakfast.
  • She can drink me under the table.

My mom is the embodiment of the American dream. I talk to her every day. She never fails to make me smile. I love her.
