What counts as Maladaptive

Maladaptive daydreaming is anything which is that, maladaptive. That means it is constantly causing problems and stress for the individual and people around them rather than being helpful like a quick well thought out plan for your next conversation in the shower. For example I find maths class so incredibly boring that I don’t even realise whenever I start daydreaming, and I daydream almost uncontrollably and this causes me to not take down important notes, not write down about homework’s, do very little and poor work in the class and sometimes not even notice when the teacher is talking to me. This situation is obviously maladaptive as it causes problems, sometimes even very serious problems for me and people around me and a person with maladaptive daydreaming’s life is full of situations like this, which make life harder for them and everyone around them
