Broke up with the ex because I found out that he cheated on me. Afterwards, he started calling/texting, begging for forgiveness. When that wasn't working, he then enlisted our mutual friend to talk to me, however, the friend (despite knowing my ex longer) sided with me, and apologized for how he was acting. So far, typical grovelling.

Then he began showing up at my apartment randomly. Mind you, he does NOT have a car, so he would walk all the way to my place (about 3-5 miles). Day/night, he would just show up randomly. Once, he showed up with a bouquet and a hand written letter, not for me, but for me to give to my mother to thank her for giving birth to me.

Once he finally realized that our relationship was over and done with, I get a text around 12am, and he said that he would kill himself if I didn't meet him at his parents' home. I showed up, and found him with a steak knife to his throat saying that he would end it in front of me. Luckily his parents woke up from all the commotion, and they threw him in their car and took him to a mental institution.

Found out later that he threw himself out of a moving car in order to escape.

I'm pretty sure he's doing much better right now, and I'm glad.
