In 2005 my mom decided to do some home economics classes with her children. So my sister and I learned how to mend from one grandmother and how to knit from the other. How to do the dishes effectively and in under 15 minutes for a family of 7 etc. At the end of these classes, we basically knew how to cook any normal food we might eat and clean the whole house.

So we got into a routine: Make porridge Clean bathrooms and start laundry Do schoolwork (awkward homeschoolers here) Make lunch Clean a bathroom Move laundry Finish school Cook dinner

We usually made chili, rice and beans, or some variation on chicken. However, as a surprise my mum let me make spaghetti. I specifically remember the brand of vodka sauce we used. I stored it in my grandmother's random Tupperware with a pink lid from 10 years ago that she left accidentally the week before.

I woke up in the middle of the night feeling quite a bit peckish. I decided to go downstairs and became really concerned because the kitchen was full of smoke. I shouted for my sister and suddenly from inside the kitchen came a scream in return and a blue flash of light.

I went in moments later. Not a thing was out of place. Nothing was burning. I was freaked out and decided to snack on our spaghetti from earlier to calm my nerves. I opened the fridge and it was gone... we never found the Tupperware and my grandmother spanked us.
