What was the cringiest thing you did in your first relationship?

SO MANY THINGS.

Well, first, I was raised to think that my ENTIRE purpose in life was to get married and have babies. I was 19 when I finally tricked someone into being my boyfriend. He was 17. I was a college sophomore, he was still in high school.

I was OBSESSED with him. Went to my COLLEGE classes and zoned out whilst doodling our initials in my notebooks. Failed the classes, because I didn't need to try, because I had a boyfriend and my life was complete. Dropped out of college 4 months into our relationship to move back in with my parents so we could be closer.

His name was Josh. I referred to him as "Joshie" to everyone, EXCEPT for him. Bought a goldfish for my college dorm. Named the fucking fish Joshie. Talked to my roommates about him nonstop.

Made out with him in my bedroom at my parents house and my brother could hear us from his bedroom. Oh god. Also gave him a handjob under the blankets while we were watching a movie with my brother in the same room. Oh god.

Had sex with him in the back of my parents van on Valentine's Day and told him I loved him. He didn't say it back. Also put a jolly rancher in my mouth on that same night and gave him a bj, then had sex with him. Got a raging yeast infection from that. He dumped me 28 days later, on March 12, 2002.

We dry humped constantly. He always came in his boxers, and then he just carried on with the day -- WITH CUM ALL OVER HIMSELF.

I drove by his family's home every now and again just to look. I wasn't looking for anything in particular; I think it was just more of an actual, physical reminder that YES I HAVE A REAL BOYFRIEND! His family's home was a 20 minute drive away. I'd also drive by his friend's house and look to see if his car was there. I continued to do these things after he dumped me. For a year.

He broke up with me after 6 months and 28 days. I cried about him and AIM-stalked him as much as possible for a solid 1.5 years after we broke up.

THREE years after we broke up, I started writing a column for my (new) college's newspaper - at this point he was a student at the same (state) school as well. I wrote about our relationship several times, until he reached out and asked me to please stop writing about him.
